Can PagerDeck replace PagerDuty?
For individuals and small teams often yes, for large on-call organizations no. PagerDeck accepts alerts via HTTP or email and uses a rule chain on the receiving end to decide whether and how loud a phone rings, with quiet hours, repetition until acknowledged, and escalation. PagerDeck does not offer rotating schedules, phone calls, SMS or an Android app.

When PagerDuty is the better choice
- You need schedules with rotation, handoffs and overrides for several teams.
- Alerts must arrive by phone call or SMS, or parts of your team use Android.
- You want incident management with status pages, postmortems and a large catalog of ready-made integrations.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I switch without rebuilding every system?
- Any system that can send a freely configurable webhook or an email can be connected. Integrations hardwired to PagerDuty's Events API need to be switched to webhook or email.
- Does PagerDeck have escalations?
- Yes. A rule repeats an alert until it is acknowledged and, after a deadline without acknowledgment, escalates to another device or an email address. There is no schedule that hands on-call duty to the next person.
- Where is the data stored?
- Servers and database run at Hetzner in Nuremberg. The website runs through Cloudflare and push to Apple devices through Apple's service, and both are named in the privacy policy. You sign the data processing agreement (DPA) in the dashboard.
- How does PagerDeck's pricing compare?
- Prices are on the pricing page. The difference is the model: PagerDeck bills by plans with fixed allowances, not per user.
