How do I bundle my homelab notifications?
Create one source per system in PagerDeck: Uptime Kuma via webhook, Home Assistant via rest_command, scripts via curl, NAS and Proxmox via the email inbox. Everything lands in one history, and a rule chain decides the level: silent at night unless it is critical, media services quiet, the UPS loud and repeated until you acknowledge.
Rules for this use case
Only critical alerts at night
Two rules in this order. The first silences everything between 23:00 and 7:00, the second raises critical again, because later rules override earlier ones.
[ { "enabled": true, "stop": false, "when": { "time": { "days": [ "mo", "tu", "we", "th", "fr", "sa", "su" ], "from": "23:00", "to": "07:00", "tz": "Europe/Berlin" } }, "then": { "level": "silent" } }, { "enabled": true, "stop": false, "when": { "severity_at_least": "critical" }, "then": { "level": "critical" } } ]Quieter media services
If Jellyfin or Plex goes down, a banner with no sound is enough. The pattern checks the title, where Uptime Kuma puts the monitor name.
{ "enabled": true, "stop": false, "when": { "source": [ "uptime-kuma" ], "match": { "title": "/jellyfin|plex/i" } }, "then": { "level": "low" } }UPS on battery
If Home Assistant sends a message with the tag ups, it becomes critical and repeats every five minutes, at most six times, until you acknowledge.
{ "enabled": true, "stop": false, "when": { "source": [ "home-assistant" ], "tags": { "any": [ "ups" ] } }, "then": { "level": "critical", "repeat": { "every": "5m", "until": "ack", "max": 6 } } }
Where the limits are
- PagerDeck is not self-hostable. If you want to keep everything on your own network, ntfy or Gotify is the better fit.
- PagerDeck does not check for heartbeats. A monitor like Uptime Kuma has to detect that a service is down.
- Android devices do not get push today.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Pro plan enough for a homelab?
- For API and webhooks, yes. If devices can only send email, such as a NAS or Proxmox, you need the email inbox from Business. It is active there without an extra step.
- Do I need to open ports?
- No. All systems send outbound to api.pagerdeck.com over HTTPS or by email. Inbound access to your network is not needed.
- How do I check whether a rule applies?
- Send a test alert with the source's test button. The history shows which level it ended up with.

- Uptime Kuma notifications to your iPhone
Uptime Kuma reports an outage via webhook. PagerDeck uses your rules to decide whether your phone rings.
- Home Assistant alerts to your iPhone, with rules
One rest_command, and every automation can trigger PagerDeck. You decide in one place how loud each alert arrives.
- Backup monitoring: loud on failure, quiet on success
Failed backups repeat until acknowledged. Success messages land quietly in the history.
- PagerDeck or ntfy
Both send push via HTTP. ntfy is an open pub-sub service, PagerDeck an alerting service with receiver side rules.
